Butterfly Dance
Butterfly Dance
We had the dance perfected for weeks,
but when the time came to dance on stage
the butterflies came dancing back.
Like people running from zombies
or ducks scrapping for the last breadcrumb.
I was nervous like everyone else,
but there wasn't anything I could do.
I couldn’t run as fast as roller-blades skate.
I couldn’t run as fast as cheetah leap.
I couldn’t run away from the butterflies.
When the dance was over my heart was a
galloping gazelle.
The butterflies still come and go,
but now I feel as though
I fly with them.
